One of the most popular services we provide at Sash Restoration Belfast, is the draught proofing service and renovation of your original timber sash and casement windows, to bring them up to modern standards of draught proofing and insulation. The sash windows are removed and the whole window is overhauled, the windows are then thoroughly inspected for rot and any rotten timbers are carefully cut out and replaced.

 

A typical sash window refurbishment will involve:

• re-balancing and re-weighting the windows

• fully draught proofing installed into the sash windows

• restoring the original box frame

• replacing the external pointing

• replacing all the ironmongery where needed

All draught proofing is discreetly inserted into the timber sash and casement windows and does not alter the appearance of the windows in any way. This service is particularly suited to clients who live in conservation areas, listed buildings, as planning restrictions will mean that upgrading to double glazing is often not an option.

 

​If your sash and casement windows are in extremely good order, installing a draught proofing system is the only option. This involves the installation of draught proofing into the parting beads and baton rods and running a seal for the mid rail and base of the window.
